I finally got all packed and even cleared my inbox and task list. Ready for three weeks of vacation now. London, Bath, Cambridge, the Lake District, and more are on the agenda.

In 2010 I wrote nearly 11,000 words in WordPress for my senior thesis. While it’s less polished I spent the last two days writing 8,300 words. My fingers are ready for a break. On to 3 weeks of vacation now.
Not quite 4pm and I’ve written 3,500 words at Write the Docs. Fun day so far and a solid conference.
Last day in Maui. 8 turtles swam with, 20 miles hiked, 4 frozen yogurt stops, and lots of sunshine. Hoping to post more travel recaps and photos soon.
I think I’ve finally settled in to an ideal flow with my digital tools. Things, Mail.app, Basecamp, and nvALT/Simplenote are my happy places. It’s been a while since I’ve gone so long without tweaking something.
Rediscovering the beauty of Simplenote has done wonders for my memory and productivity. Paired with Notational Velocity it’s unstoppable.
Hit my goal of a sub-25 minute 5k. Finished it in about 23 minutes. Overall did 3.25 miles at a 7:55 clip. Sometimes impending rain is the best motivation to keep running.
Took a bit of a break this afternoon and watched Linotype: The Film. Really great documentary about what was, for many years, revolutionary publishing technology. It’s a little crazy to realize that the gap between idea and mass publication used to literally require liquid metal poured one line at a time.
Earlier today I started Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. I’m already half-way through reading it. A fantastic read with the right mix of tech, books, and intrigue.
Had a great day at UserConf and am taking a late-night flight back to Portland. Long two days but so worth it.
